Magnolia Cools Summer with New Ice Cream Products!

I had the pleasure of being included in the guest list of Magnolia when it had its 1st Summer Bloggers Party held at the Executive Dining Room of the San Miguel Corporation Bldg. in Ortigas, Pasig City. This was Friday night and coincided with April Fools Day. The efforts that the people behind Magnolia put into the event, though, was no joke. The bloggers party was fun and filled with surprises that left us wanting for more as the night progressed.

Aside from the tasty buffet dinner, the exciting raffle, the witty host and the two awesome production numbers from the Velasco brothers (of Pilipinas Got Talent fame), the best part of the event for me was the welcome remarks of Magnolia's GM in the person of Mr. Mayo Alcon. The guy talked about the humble origins of Magnolia, from the time it opened and closed to the time it got sold to Nestle Philippines and ressurected again as an independent ice cream brand under the corporate conglomerate San Miguel Corporation (SMC). They are currently no. 3 in the market, yes, but with the great promise brought about by a new and bigger plant and a set of bright marketing strategies, Magnolia has so much potential to be able to reclaim it's old glory as the Philippines' no. 1 ice cream brand.

Through this event, the bloggers got introduced to the new ice cream products of Magnolia. These included Popsies, Pinipig Crunch, Sweetie Bites, Fun Bar and Spinner. The first four are already out in the market but the Spinner (their version of the drumstick) is not, yet. That night, they let us sample it for the first time! Cool.

I have tried everything except for the Fun Bar. I liked the Spinner (chocolate flavor) and the Pinipig Crunch (sweet corn flavor) very much. The Spinner had a genuine chocolate-y flavor while the Pinipig Crunch was sweet and had just the right creaminess.

Magnolia was generous enough to give us samples of their new products stored in small ice cream storage bags for us to take home to our families. Thank you SMC and Magnolia Philippines for this fun event for bloggers. 'Till next time!
