Originally based in Cebu, Calda Pizza now has several branches in Manila. I spotted their Madison Square-Pioneer branch in Mandaluyong City one random day and immediately asked my husband E to have a quick snack there. We just came from an appointment and we were already headed home when I grabbed the chance to taste their pizza. I was not even really hungry yet then but you know, pizza for me is comfort food. Plus, I was quite curious to try this promising pizza joint.
One thing you'd like about Calda pizza is the cheap price. The 11" inch Milanese pizza we ordered, for instance, is sold at just P210 (vat included)! It's just thin-crust pizza, but I can attest how the pizza we ordered didn't lack in flavor and quality. I knew because the pizza was made right in front of me. They were generous with the toppings especially with the mozzarella cheese!
As for the taste, I can't complain either. Our pizza had chicken fillet, ham, onions and green bell peppers. I love the thin crust with a cracker-like texture underneath and a layer of soft dough on top. It went well with the sweet and savory flavors of the toppings. Add some in-house catsup and chili sauce and you'll be in for a delicious treat.
We enjoyed our pizza with some soda and mineral water (my drink, because I lost my voice after the wedding). :(
Calda Pizza offers a wide variety of pizza flavors. Their pizza sizes are out of this world, too. It starts at 11" up to the biggest size Extra Super at 36", perfect for a group of hungry beasts! Beat that.
I will definitely come back to try their other pizza flavors! :)
