Last weekend, we celebrated the Feast Day of St. Michael the Archangel at our place in Manila. I didn’t wanna cook anymore so I resorted to ordering cooked food for delivery. After a little googling, I found out about CCME Home Made Food Stuff. The reviews I read online were pretty good so I didn’t hesitate to order from them. I’m happy to report that they didn’t disappoint. Their dishes, which they claim to be home-cooked, really tasted like home! And I liked their service, too, which was faster and more efficient than I expected.
Among the many food packages they have (you could also order per item!), I settled for their Meryenda Espesyal, P1680. I also paid an additional P150 for delivery fee. This package is good for 20 persons and composed of the following: Pancit Canton or Pancit Sotanghon (I chose the former), Lumpiang Shanghai, Embotido Grande and Potato Salad. When I received them, they were placed in heavy-duty carton containers wrapped in foil and covered with cling wrap.
Here are the food I ordered from them, along with my comments:
Pancit Canton. I liked that it was not dry and had enough sauce and veggies to cover the noodles. There was also a good serving of chicken meat and liver which made this dish more palatable. I’m not a big pancit fan but this one’s satisfying enough I woudn’t mind ordering it again to feed to my guests in the future.
Lumpiang Shanghai. Their Lumpiang Shanghai was delicious. The saltiness was just right, no need to dip in the sweet-chili sauce. I thought it was good as is. It somehow satisfied my craving for Chinese food that day. There was enough meat and veggie mix in every roll. What we did was we re-fried them to make them extra crispy again.
Embotido Grande. I heard this one’s their specialty but somehow, I found it dry and bland. But then, there’s the good ‘ol catsup to save the day.
Potato Salad. This one looks messy and when I was eating it, I couldn’t even distinguish the ingredients present at first but I’m telling you, it’s good. Just like how my fave aunt makes it. I loved CCME’s version because it was creamy and tasty and the potatoes were not overdone. I would have loved it more had there been more and larger red beet cubes in it.
To complete our fiesta handa, my MIL steamed some native puto and I made a refrigerator cake for desserts. Since we were only 10 who ate all these food from CCME, the leftovers became part of our dinner and breakfast the next day. Haha.
Ordering from CCME was fuzz-free. I just told the girl on the phone what I wanted to get, gave my delivery address and the date when I wanted the food and that was it. I ordered one day in advance and didn’t have to remind them about it. The delivery guy appeared in our doorstep a few minutes before the agreed time so I gave him a nice tip. I’m easy to please, you know. And aside from good food, fast and hassle-free service makes me happy. :)
