Yabu: House of Katsu...Finally!

We've been meaning to dine at Yabu: House of Katsu for the longest time. It didn't happen because a lot of things got in our way. Fast forward to last Wednesday night, we were able to find time to go to MOA (where the nearest Yabu branch to our place in Manila is located) to have a taste of their popular katsu. Finally.

Prior to this visit, I heard it takes a while before you can get a table at Yabu because the place is always crowded. I guess we were just lucky because it only took us several minutes to get a table for three that night. My SIL arrived late and so the hubby and I ordered food and ate ahead of her. It was the 120g Rosu katsu set for the hubby and for me, the 120g Chicken katsu set (P325). When my SIL came, she said she was so hungry and ordered a 180g Rosu katsu set away. Haha.

Aside from the katsu, our set meals include a serving of Japanese rice, a small bowl of miso soup, Japanese pickles, and shredded cabbage. There was also a small bowl of fresh fruits for dessert (watermelon and pineapple slices). You can eat all the rice and the shredded cabbage you want because they are unlimited.

Before our orders came, they served us with some tea and I had mine cold.

this barley drink made me less guilty about all the food I ate!

I had very high expectations with their katsu because I read a lot of blogs online raving about it. When I took a bite of my chicken katsu, I was impressed. It was crunchy on the outside and the meat inside was buttery soft. The taste was just right, too. Not salty nor bland. The flavors from the katsu sauce and the ground sesame seeds, on the other hand, took our katsu experience to another level. Super yum!

these sesame seeds go well with the katsu sauce

Did I mention I immediately got hooked on their shredded cabbage mixed with sesame dressing and soy vinaigrette? Gosh, it was the bomb! I took advantage of their "unli" perk because of this.

The prices of the food at Yabu may be a bit steep but I can definitely say we got what we paid for. I know you've heard it before but lemme say it again. Yabu: House of Katsu serves the best katsu in town! I've never eaten anything like it. :)
